Oye Dime

this is part of the audit team eating at a nice 5 star restaurant in Europe.

well, its been a while since my last blog and lots of things have happened recently. first off, i'd like to say congrats to Obama. it was nice to see him as our president finally and nice to see a different face. however, i am gonna miss watching the other guy speak because he simply just made me cackle in my chair even though i did loathe him. sometimes i just don't get what goes on in his head or how the man thinks. no logic. just dense.

currently, i'm in Madrid, Spain right now. i've gotten a lot of positive feedback from the Spanish regarding our new president. i think since the train bombings of 2004 in Madrid, people here have regretted their "support for the war" and the US just like many other countries around the world have. but everyone here was very excited and i actually am kinda "proud" being an American. first time since the 2nd grade.

well, my plan was to blog about each country i visited just so that it would be my personal "souvenir" so when i got older, i could look back and laugh as i read this. but since i left the US, i've been to Latvia and Romania and im currently in Madrid until Saturday. little delay here.

Latvia....it was very very cold. about -15 degrees celcius. it was a beautiful city though. however, the last night i was there, people were protesting in the city square which happened to be right outside my hotel room (loved it). i went to eat dinner that night and as i was walking back to my hotel, i thought there was some concert going on so i got excited. but when i heard a bunch of shouting and cheering and a guy on a megaphone like the dude in Forrest Gump (obviously i couldn't understand anyone), i think i figured it all out. their government is corrupt. the people are passionate. and the city is cold. not a good combination so i went back to my room and locked my door (brain impulses make me feel safe when i lock my door).

Romania....very gothic city. very cold still. and lots of black snow. it was a dark city. i was in bucharest but i really wanted to see transylvania. would have been awesome around halloween. i have to give credit to all the vampires walking around during the day though. i thought that was a little unusual.

Madrid is by far the best city on this trip. however, i am a little embarressed because everyone that sees my name just starts spitting off Spanish to me. i definitely need to learn this language since it is my blood. everyone here is friendly and i can see where my lifestyle and growing up with a spanish father has influenced who i am today. the spanish are family oriented and VERY affectionate. and loud...everyone here smokes and stays up late and goes to work late and leaves late. my kind of culture :) here are some pics

saturday i will be back in the states and i can't wait to see my little Emma and show her all the presents i got for her. i absolutley love shopping for her. kinda funy because i never buy anything for myself. i just love seeing her excited and smiling all the time. i love you and miss you Em!

oh yeah, and i forgot to mention that i finally moved to my new place and i love it! im so happy and best of all, i think Em likes it too. its gonna be good. ciao
